FEMA trailer exposure affects young Lousiana children

Filed May 28th, 2008 joshua

Associated Press reports tens of thousands of Gulf Coast children who lived in FEMA trailers could face a lifelong bout of illness.

It reports of a Louisiana mother who lived in a trailer while pregnant with her now-15-month old daughter.

Her daughter now faces a long bout of severe asthma and must inhale medicines through a device.

Formaldehyde in the glue is what is making trailer residents sick. FEMA and the Centers for Disease Control have been accused of hiding the fact the trailers were a hazard to residents.

The CDC recently revealed a study looking at medical records of 144 Mississippi children to determine a link to the trailers and respiratory distress but results were inconclusive.
