NuvaRing Caused Blood Clots, Woman Says

A Bloomington, Ind., woman says the NuvaRing birth control product nearly took her life after she switched off “the pill”.
WMBD and WYZZ report 26-year old Liz Larson says she developed “a few clots” in each of her lungs while on NuvaRing for only two months. For the previous 10 years, Larson relied solely on the birth control pill for contraception. She reports never having any issues with it.
But after visiting her gynecologist, she was convinced to try the seemingly more convenient NuvaRing, which covers contraception needs in three week intervals.
Though Larson smokes a half-pack of cigarettes, she said she was up front with her doctor about her habit but was still encouraged to try NuvaRing. Doctors told her NuvaRing does not carry a higher risk of clots.
NuvaRing’s been on the market since 2001 and has been linked to at least a dozen deaths and hundreds of injury lawsuits.
