HoMedics Heating Pads May Cause Severe Burns or Fires
October 30th, 2007 amy
HoMedics, Inc. recalled their TheraP model heating pads in February of this year after receiving multiple complaints of the heating pads causing fires and burns. Despite the voluntary HoMedics heating pad recall, which included approximately 292,108 heating pads, many people are still using the heating pads to dangerous and near deadly results. The defective HoMedics heating pads were produced and shipped to retailers, including Walgreens and other common drug and department stores, back in 2001 and 2002. By the early 2007 recall, many folks aren’t aware that they’re using a product which could be harmful, even fatal.
The source of the problem may be a loose connection within the HoMedics heating pad causing a short circuit, which can pose risk of skin burns, fires, or damage to any material in contact with the heating pad such as bed clothing or furniture. HoMedics heating pad users who no longer have the original packaging are urged to check the back of the hand control for a 4-digit date code ending in “01” and discontinue use of these heating pads immediately.
If the four digit code is rubbed off from extended us, check the model name. Model names affected by the recall are:
